Hey Guys

There's an awesome guy named Rob Dyer who has more vision, commitment and passion than most folks our age. His fight to raise awareness and funds for Cancer is an inspiration even to the most jaded. Through events and shows geared towards today's youth, Rob and his awesome team fight the battle against cancer through alternative and innovative means. Please read the following and add the links as your next friend.

Here's a little background on S4C roots.

Skate4Cancer founder Rob Dyer found inspiration in marathoner Terry Fox and his mother Wendy [who was fighting cancer at the time] to put together a skate marathon across Canada and US to raise funds for cancer research at Princess Margaret Hospital.

Four months prior to the trip's start in Los Angeles, Rob lost a dear friend to stomach cancer, his paternal grandmother to stomach cancer, his maternal grandmother to brain cancer and his mother to brain cancer.

In March 2004, Rob and his team of volunteers met in LA, having secured funding and a donated school bus from sponsors of the trip. On the homeward stretch north along the eastern coastline, Rob was continually challenged by heart-breaking events. Rob was frequently bumped or hit by passing cars; though uninjured, these experiences played were mentally exhausting. Escalating physical pain in his fractured ankle and a weary perspective made for a harrowing finale to the cross-country skate tour.

In honour of those he had lost to cancer, Rob reached within himself and found the courage to complete the final leg. Physically and emotionally spent, Rob concluded the tour in Newmarket, Ontario in July.
